The Guitar in songwriting with Lucas Michailidis
SATURDAY October 26th (9:30-3:30PM) MELBOURNE POLYTECHNIC, PRESTON CAMPUS
Join Lucas Michailidis in an inspiring all-day session focused exclusively on the guitar’s role in songwriting. The aim of this lab is to explore and unlock creative options and do away with tired, cliched default patterns.
Participants will be armed with practical tools and approaches enabling them to conceive and integrate well considered guitar parts that seamlessly align with the intent and sentiment of each song. Your songs will ring more personal, vivid and potent as a result.
There will be an exploration of leading exponents present and past from Lianne La Havas and Ben Howard to Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. Participants will also be invited to prepare an original song that can be performed and workshopped within the group.
NB: Whilst this lab is pitched at the guitar player with some experience, sight reading and theory knowledge is NOT a prerequisite.
