The Melbourne Guitar Lab
When Lucas Michailidis put together an ensemble of 25 guitarists for a theatre performance, it gave him a new idea - a fellowship of guitarists driven by a shared obsession of music. And the Melbourne Guitar Lab was born.
The Melbourne Guitar Lab aims to diversify the landscape of music education. It offers intensive programs by industry-successful players in face-to-face workshop environments. “It’s a more responsive model of education which can easily adapt to the needs of a group or the industry” says Michailidis.
The Labs focus on improving skills, provoking genuine creativity and fostering a community of players. “Guitar is a hugely popular instrument, yet many skilled people (who are not professional or in formal education) don't find avenues to share their playing."

"Fabulous. The best workshop series I have ever attended. Lucas is an amazing communicator who is able to zone in on any difficulties you may be having and find a way to get the message across. I knew zip about modes, now I use them all the time and have come away with enough compositional tools to keep me exploring for years. Thanks Lucas!"
"Lucas uses his professional career as a performer, composer and recording artist, as well as his rich pedagogical background to instil in every student the thirst to never stop learning."
